On August 28th, we were awarded a $5,000 dollar Duke Energy Foundation grant for Severe Weather Preparedness.
This grant will enable us to work with Alexander County 9-1-1 & Emergency Management to increase there weather station system that is already in place in parts of the county. Working with our local weather service office we have found some dead zones where there is no data. This grant will allow us to purchase 4 new weather stations and help cover the dead zones in the county. These weather stations, like the others already in place we send out real time weather data to all county emergency services and to US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC.
In addition to the weather stations this grant will also fund new weather radios to all Alexander County Schools. Thank you again to the Duke Energy Foundation for this grant.
